The next book in the Literary Lizard book series will feature a new character – a book loving python named “Snakespeare”.
I took some time yesterday to imagine what he might look like. Here are my first scribbles where I started to think about things like:
- What does a python look like?
- What might make a python look like he deserves the name “Snakespeare”?
Looking at images on google I discovered there are a LOT of cool pythons to choose from. I fell in love with the banana lemon blast python for not only his great colors but his awesome name as well! Next I looked for images of Shakespeare. There are lots of costume ideas that might work from that Elizabethan time but the only thing that would work on my snake was the silly collar that looks a lot like the cone your dog sometimes wears when he comes home from the vet. Oddly enough, that funny Elizabethan collar is called a RUFF!
With ideas in hand, I went to do one more scribble to get a full snake that I could dress up.
The final version of “Snakespeare” turned out like this…
