I finished a commission this weekend and before starting the next one I took a day off to “play” – trying out a few ideas I had in the back of my mind.
The first idea was inspired by the Olympics opening ceremony – I really wanted to paint a Royal Corgi! Of course I had to include the Union Jack flag and I decided to grunge it up a bit before painting the corgi on top of it!
The next painting was going to be an impressionistic take on a Jack Russell. I had plans to paint the dog on black then change the shadows to geometric stained glass pieces. Hard to describe but I have the image in my head.
Anyway, I finished the underpainting in 15 minutes and when I stepped back from it I decided I was finished. I know I could have continued but after looking at the looseness of it I just wanted to let it be…
Last night I started on a new commission – Two adventurous pups looking for adventure. Here’s a sneak preview…
